About

Wooden Boat and Maritime Seminars, Silva Bay Gabriola Island, BC
  • About

The Wooden Boat and Maritime Seminars are put on on an independent non-profit basis, as a benefit to the maritime community and the Shipyard Raid, an 8-day staged race for traditional sail and oar boats. Admission is free. Thanks to Silva Bay Resort, Silva Bay Inn, Western Mariner magazine, Eternal Flow Computers, and to Madd Art for their support.

  • Location

The seminars take place on Gabriola Island and at Silva Bay, home to the historic Withey Shipyard and the CNN docks, now the Silva Bay Resort, Shipyard and Shipyard School, Canada's only full-time wooden boatbuilding school.

  • Notes

The 2009-2008 Winter Maritime Seminars and the 2009 and 2008 Silva Bay Maritime Festival Wooden Boat Seminars were put on as benefits to the maritime community and the Shipyard School on an independent non-profit basis. Admission was free. All donations were given to the Shipyard School. Our generous sponsors, Silva Bay Resort, Silva Bay Inn, Silva Bay Shipyard, Village Foods, Eternal Flow Computers, and Madd Art helped defray seminar costs.
